In 1983, while I was a student at Chamberlain-Hunt Academy, several students from my school were chosen as extras to film an episode of The Mississippi starring Ralph Waite (The Waltons) and Stan Shaw (Roots.) There's a close up of me at 0:43. Having grown up watching The Waltons, it was a pretty exciting experience to see how films are produced and to spend a day working with a couple of famous actors. I got paid $50 and I added "professional actor" to my resume!

Established in 2003. The Mississippi School of the Arts is an upper high school of literary, visual, media and performing arts on the historic Whitworth College Campus in Brookhaven, Mississippi, about sixty miles south of Jackson, Mississippi. MSA teaches 11th and 12th grade students. The site has 6 buildings designated as Mississippi Landmarks, and the campus is also notable as being on the U.S. National Register of Historic Places. The renovation or construction of the campus facilities, as a historic site, are ongoing and rely upon additional funding to make capital improvements.
